Glorious seclusion in Moidart, Western Highlands

Dalilea Croft is a traditional single storey cottage integrated with an architect designed extension featuring a glass end elevation.

The property provides spectacular loch views and is surrounded by its own established garden, which is well-fenced and bounded on one side by a small burn. The house and garden are completely secluded, no other house is visible, with views of Beinn Resipol to the south and Loch Shiel, a short walk across permanent pasture, to the west.

The Moidart area is truly a hidden gem, bursting with wildlife and history, ready for you to explore, at any time of the year. We look forward to welcoming you here.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Dalilea Croft pet friendly?

Yes we are definitely pet friendly and love dogs but they must be well-behaved because our garden is surrounded by stocked fields. Our expectation is that you pick up all dog mess in the garden during your stay and your pets are never allowed on our furniture including the beds.

  • What time is check-in and check-out?

The cottage will be ready for you by 3pm on the arrival day. The cottage will not be ready for you before 3pm as our bookings are typically back to back. Departure time is always 10am latest.

  • What are the safety and accessibility features at the cottage?

There are hard-wired carbon monoxide and smoke detectors in the property. The property also includes a fire extinguisher and first aid kit. All furnishings are FR protected. There is exterior lighting. The emergency exit route is via the front door to the garden. We provide an emergency torch for use in a power-cut. We are sorry but the cottage is not suitable for a wheelchair user.

  • Where exactly is the cottage located?

Our exact location (within 3 yards) can be found here:
    https://what3words.com/lurching.spouse.widely

  • Where can I park my car?

There is space for two cars in the lay-by opposite the cottage on the road but please note the gate by the cattle grid is regularly used by the farmer when moving cattle and sheep. As a result your car could get damaged. For this reason we recommend parking inside the cottage gate on the gravel area.

  • What if I have questions and queries during my stay?

Everything you need to know is detailed in the arrival welcome folder as are all departure instructions.

  • Is the wifi fast and reliable?

Our wifi is provided by a community service and connection can be intermittent and will not be as fast or reliable as the service you enjoy at home. Typical wifi speed is 25+ Mbps. Please do not rely on it for work. If the wifi goes off for any reason, please be patient and the signal will return. Please do not contact the owners about service interruptions as we will not be able to assist you.

  • What can I do with my family on a wet-weather day?

We supply board games and have a TV at the cottage. Fort William has a cinema and swimming pool.

  • How close is the beach?

There are small and quiet sea beaches eight miles away at Ardtoe and Glenuig and bigger and busier beaches at Arisaig and Morar. We have a small fresh-water beach five minutes walk from the cottage.

  • What’s so special about Moidart?

This is an amazing part of Scotland and a hidden gem – very rural and stuffed with wildlife, history and scenery – if you want to get away from it all, this is the place for you!
